To force a Unix, Linux or Mac (ULM) managed client to recreated software component data, do the following:

1. In the NS console, create or edit an inventory task or policy with the following options (the process and options are the same for both tasks and policies):

   - In that task/policy main window, CHECK both options for ‘Software - Windows…’ and  ‘File Properties…'.

   - Click the Advanced button and then the ‘Run Options’ tab. UNCHECK the option to ‘Send inventory changes (deltas) only.

2. On the client computer(s), delete, rename or move the following files:

    /opt/altiris/notification/smfagent/var/swc.dat

    /opt/altiris/notification/smfagent/var/lslpp.out

    /opt/altiris/notification/inventory/var/delta.cache

    /opt/altiris/notification/inventory/var/cache/*

3. Run the full inventory task/policy.

This will allow the client-side processes to repopulate and inventory NSE file with Software Component data. The NSE should then be processed by the NS/SMP server and the data should (re)appear in the Symantec CMDB.
